The Senegalo-Gambia National Development Association on Sunday elected its executive to steer the affairs of the organisation at an event held at Faji Kunda.

The Senegalo-Gambia National Development was established to help empower a joint association that seeks to enhance smooth and free movement of goods and services between the two countries.

The Association held its resuscitation meeting in January this year under the theme: ‘For proving peace between Gambia and Senegal such as business, transportation, health and security.’

Senegalo-Gambia combined different associations such as Senegalese and Gambian associations within The Gambia. These different associations come together as one body to promote the welfare and development of the two counties.

“We are women and we are ready to work for national development,” Mama Jatta, the newly elected president said. “We are aiming to collaborate with other organisations to bolster business opportunities between The Gambia and Senegal.”

“This national development we are talking about is between our two countries. I am delighted today because I am dealing in goods which are from Senegal, so electing me as president is an opportunity to strengthen the ties between our two countries and to create more business opportunities for our members,” she said.

Deputy spokesperson of the Association, Abdoulie Camara talked about the purpose of coming together to form the Association, saying they aim to showcase their talents and capabilities to ensure that their businesses flourish as Gambia and Senegal are one country but separated by colonialism.

“We are up to uniting these two countries for everybody to know that we are the same family. We will engage the two presidents to make them understand that this Association is here to complement the efforts of the development of the two countries.”

Advisers Ebrima Keita and Imam Ousman Bah both hailed the formation of the Association, while praying for it to achieve its goal in the near future.
