It should be noted on 17 November 2023, the Supreme Court of Senegal overturned a judgement delivered in October 2023 by a judge in Ziguinchor, Casamance, which had put Ousmane Sonko back in the running for the February 2024 presidential election by overturning his (Sonko’s) removal from the electoral roll. Senegal’s Supreme Court declared on 17 November 2023 that the legal case to determine whether Ousmane Sonko should be reinstated on the electoral roll should be retried by this special court hearing, slated for 12 December 2023.
