On the occasion of his general policy statement,
Prime Minister Amadou Bâ, appointed head of government on September 17, 2022, has said what he thinks of President Macky Sall's 3rd term, responding to an interpellation on the subject.

“The question of mandate is a question of personal responsibility. It only concerns him. And he hasn't brought it up yet. He hasn't talked about it yet. Now each of us has his position. But it is not forbidden for any Senegalese to apply. Our constitution says what? She says the term is 5 years. But no one can serve more than two consecutive terms. That's what the constitution says. So let it go. Why do you want to fight today over who should be a candidate and who should not be? What is the interest and meaning for Senegal? If I start talking about it, I get out of my oath,” said Amadou Bâ.

“More tolerance; let the game be free. The Senegalese know how to choose. Any candidate will go through the Constitutional Council which will post the list of those who can officially be candidates. And after the Constitutional Council, it will be up to the people to decide all that. People have done it regularly. And there was never a problem. When you exclude someone, it's like you're afraid of them," he said.
