The Gambia Police Force wishes to update the public on a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the alleged kidnapping of a minor—Samuel Mendy, 11 years old, of Dippa Kunda. The case, which has attracted widespread public concern and media attention, was reported following his disappearance.
Following sustained surveillance and operational efforts, a suspect was arrested in connection with the case on the morning of Saturday, 29th March 2025. The suspect is currently in police custody and is assisting investigators with the ongoing inquiry.
Preliminary findings suggest that the child was unlawfully taken and held for a period of time. Upon recovery, the child was taken to the hospital for medical examination, which confirmed that he was not physically harmed and had no medical issues. He has since been located, is in safe condition, and has been reunited with his family.

On alleged murder case
Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was assaulted by a neighbor, 31 years old Kemo Manneh. Reportedly, the suspect allegedly attempted to sexually assault a 12-year-old girl, and the victim intervened, leading to her subsequent brutal assault.
The victim was evacuated and rushed to the hospital, where she was admitted. She succumbed to her injuries on Monday, March 31, 2025.
The minor was also taken to the hospital, where a medical examination confirmed that there was no penetration.
The suspect has been arrested and remains in police custody as investigations continue.

Fire incident at Serekunda Sandika
The Gambia Police Force wishes to inform the public of a fire incident that occurred in the early hours of Monday, March 31, 2025, at “Sandika” in Serekunda.
Fire and rescue services responded and engaged in coordinated efforts to contain the blaze. The fire was eventually brought under control with the assistance of multiple water tankers.
