Point mourns  demise of  staff’s wife

The Point Newspaper joins other media colleagues, family, and friends to mourn the sudden demise of Journalist Maimuna Sey-Jawo, spouse to our senior reporter Momodou Jawo. 

Maimuna had a brief illness on Thursday which claimed her life on Saturday evening at her residence in Wellingara. Maimuna had worked with the The Standard and The Voice Newspaper as a freelance journalist.

 The Point expressed its heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Maimuna and described her demise as great loss for the media in the country.

   “It is shocking to the entire media to register three deaths at the beginning of the year. We hope and pray that the Almighty grants all the departed souls a place in Jannah.”

 The Gambia Press Union (GPU) also sends its deepest condolences to one of its board members, Momodou Jawo on the demise of his wife.

 The GPU stated that “the news of Maimuna Sey’s demise was received with shock and dismay by the Gambia Press Union and the entire media fraternity. Herself a journalist, Maimuna used to work for The Point newspaper. She is survived by two young children.” 

 “During this time of sorrow, we would like to wish Mr. Jawo and his family comfort and fortitude to bear such irreparable loss.”

 GPU President Muhammed S. Bah said: “We join the families of Jawo and Maimuna in grieving but also in praying for the departed soul. Our heartfelt condolences to both families.”
