Pap Saine elected NEPA's new chairperson

Mr. Pap Saine, co-founder of The Point Newspaper has been elected as Chairperson of the Newspaper Publishers Association of The Gambia (NEPA) at its Annual General Meeting   (AGM) held at The Point Newspaper office in West Field on Saturday, 9th September 2023.

Founded in 2018, the first AGM brought together all members of NEPA, namely; The Point, Foroyaa, The Standard, The Voice, and Daily newspapers.

Meanwhile, the Saturday AGM also witnessed the election of Mr. Musa S. Sheriff, Managing Director of The Voice newspaper as Secretary General, Mr. Salla Jeng, General Manager of Standard newspaper, as the Treasurer and the Proprietor of Standard newspaper and former Secretary General of the association, Mr.  Sheriff Bojang as  Spokesperson.

In his report on the activities of NEPA, the outgoing Chairperson Mr. Samuel Osseh Sarr, also Managing Editor of Foroyaa newspaper reported on the achievements of the association.

He stated that the establishment of the first Newspaper Publishers Association of The Gambia (NEPA) created a working together environment with the greatest understanding for all NEPA Members to benefit from the COVID-19 grant, which was an achievement.

He also stated that on the production front, all the print media face the same challenges, with the increase in price of production materials.

Mr. Pap Saine, expressed his appreciation to NEPA members for electing him to lead the print media association, adding that the association is the first in the country's media history.
