NPP spends over D40M in year 2021

President Barrow led political party, the National People’s Party (NPP), on Wednesday revealed that the party’s 2021 total expenditure amounted to D40,411,600 (forty million, four hundred and eleven thousand six hundred dalasis) and a surplus deficit of D4,300, 400 (four million, fifty three thousand four hundred dalasis).

 

 

The financial statement was read by the party’s Finance Secretary Lamin Saidy.

 

Mr. Saidy further revealed that the total income for the same year was about forty one million nine hundred and seventy one thousand dalasis, and a cash balance of two million four hundred and ninety four thousand dalasis. 

“Personal Expenditure amounted to three hundred and sixty thousand. Administrative Expenditure was seventy five thousand five hundred. Accounts and Audit fees was twenty five thousand. The bank fees were nil. Cleaning Health and Safety was sixty eight thousand dalasis among others.

Mr. Saidy said the current system of the NPP party accounting and financial reporting needs to be improved to adequately meet the accountability concerns of the contributors, donors, organisations, among others.

 

“The party should encourage rules of double entry book keeping, system and accepted accounting practices which will reference to specific requirements like receipt books, purchase books and registers among others,” he observed.
