The Gambia’s Ministry of Health has confirmed the registration of a new Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) case in the country.

The new case has now brought the number of confirmed cases in the country to 83.

However, the country has recorded 71 AKI deaths.

The Ministry therefore advised caregivers to take their sick children to the nearest health facility and only give their children medicines on the advice of a health worker.

It also advised caregivers not to give their children Promethazine Oral Suspension BP, KOFEXMALIN Baby Cough Syrup, MaKOFF Baby Cough Syrup and/or MaGrip n Cold Syrup plus any other medicines manufactured by Maiden Pharmaceutical Limited.
