President Macky Sall in a press conference yesterday reassured his compatriots that his term will end on 2nd April this year.

Regarding the new date of the elections, there will be national dialogue on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 this month to agree on the date of the election.

The 19 presidential candidates, politicians, and members of the civil society will attend the national dialogue to decide the date.

“If we do not agree Tuesday for the date, the electoral commission will decide. But for me, April 2nd is the end of my mandate,” President Sall declared.

He added: “I want us to promote peace and unity, and I have decided to pardon all detainees for political reasons.

“Let's open a new page, as we want inclusive election and wish the best candidate to be elected.”

Bassirou Diomaye Faye, opposition of the largest party Pastef, who is detained since April last year, will participate in the campaign.

He is among the 19 candidates.
