He cautioned: “We’re therefore advising all local administrators – Mayors, Chairpersons, Chiefs and Alkalolu to follow the due process of the law in selling lands.”
The warning came during a community engagement in Brikama north, where local leaders and residents voiced pressing concerns over infrastructure and social amenities
Chief Lamin Mondo Jatta appealed for the construction of roads in Jamisa, Nyambai, Kabafita, Jiddah, and other communities.
Lady Councillor Aja Bah urged the government to build a standard market for the women of Brikama, lamenting that “the market is our farm, but when it rains we struggle to sell.”
She also called for urgent rehabilitation of the Brikama Kembujeh road, along with the Jasa Kunda and Bafuloto roads, which she said become impassable during the rainy season.
Youth representative Alieu Sanyang requested the construction of a football park in Kombo East to serve as a recreational facility for young people, as well as the expansion of electrification to remaining communities in the area.
Responding to these appeals, the Minister for Transport, Works and Infrastructure, Honourable Ebrima Sillah, announced that the government will construct 30 kilometres of roads in Brikama, including Brikama–Kabafita–Nyambai, Jamisa, Jiddah, Rumba, FMB Sanneh Kunda, New Town, and the Brikama Market through Box Bar to the Jah Oil Petrol Station, which will be upgraded into a four-lane highway.
On the request for a mini-stadium, Minister Bah revealed that he had instructed his governor to finalise land arrangements in Lamin for the project.
