Spanish association Arambia has presented two containers full of educational and health materials to Mingdaw Upper and Senior Secondary School in Farato, West Coast Region.

The education materials boost was to complement government efforts in improving the education and health sectors of The Gambia.

Speaking at the handing-over ceremony on Tuesday at the Mingdaw school, two Spanish members of Arambia, Enrique Cardiel, president of the association, and Mr Paco, said their organisation has been supporting The Gambia with a lot of educational and health materials worth over millions of dalasis.

“We are very grateful and thankful to everybody that helped Arambia to bring these containers here, and we also thank all those who contributed for this to happen today,” Mr Cardiel said.

Lamin Kaba, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Star GSM Company, who doubles as Public Relations Officer for Arambia, commended the NGO for their work, adding: “This is the fifth container that this organisation has brought to this country.”

Bintou Gassama, deputy permanent secretary, Ministry of Environment, thanked Arambia for complementing government efforts, saying: “The government cannot do it alone; so, coming with these important materials to help The Gambia is a big thing.”

She added: “We need the support of other stakeholders.”

Kumba Kongira,  Principal of  Mingdaw Upper and Senior School, also commended the Spanish organisation for the support, saying the donated materials would help the school in its education drive.

Isatou Ndow, Vice Principal of Gambia College, said without resources, it would be difficult to achieve quality education, “so bringing these materials for schools and hospitals, I think, will go a long way in promoting” quality education.

Hon. Essa Conteh, member for Jimara, said Arambia are their long-time partners, adding: “We have been working together since 2018.”
