Mayor Bensouda honoured at FENAC cultural festival in Guinea

The Lord Mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council, Talib Ahmed Bensouda was honoured with two prestigious awards on Friday, 5 December 2025, at the just concluded FENAC Cultural Festival in Koundara, Republic of Guinea.

This was Mayor Bensouda’s first-ever attendance at the FENAC cultural festival in Kundara after receiving an official invitation from the Mayor of Koundara, Abdouraman Bah.

Mayor Bensouda received the award of recognition for cultural unification, diversity, and equality in the subregion.

The prestigious awards were presented to Mayor Bensouda by the Guinean Minister of Tourism, Mahmadou Diallo.

He was also conferred the award of Excellence for Advocacy of Local Language Literacy and Diversity by the organisation ADLAM Koundara.

The ceremony highlighted his leadership in promoting cross-cultural exchange and educational initiatives that strengthen social cohesion within the West African subregion.

Along with Guinean security heads, Mayor Bensouda had the privilege to join Prefecture Abdourahmane Keita to receive three Guinean Cabinet members.

These cabinet ministers include His Excellency Moussa Moïse Sylla, minister of Arts and Culture, His Excellency, Faya François Bourouno, minister of Labour and His Excellency, Mahmadou Diallo, minister of Tourism on their way to the FENAC Festival.

In his remarks, Mayor Bensouda thanked Abdourahmane Bah, Mayor of the Municipality of Kundara and the Prefect Abdourahmane Keita for their warm welcome, while describing the Republic of Guinea and The Gambia as one family.
