Man docked for allegedly stealing over 3M from APS

One Ousainou Touray appeared before Magistrate Anna O. Mendy of Brikama Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing over 3 million dalasis from APS Micro Finance. 

He was slammed with three counts of stealing, conspiracy to commit felony and breaking in to a building.

The prosecution led by Commissioner Malang Jarju and ASP Yaya S. Colley alleged that Ousainou Touray on the 1st day of March 2024 at APS Micro Finance branch at old Yundum, conspired to commit a felony.

The accused was also alleged to have broken and entered the APS Micro Finance at Yundum thereby committed and offence. 

The prosecution further alleged that the accused stole a sum of three million, seven hundred and forty two thousand, one hundred and sixty two dalasis (D3, 742,162.00) from APS Micro Finance contrary to section 252 of the Criminal Code Cap 10 Vol.3 Laws of The Gambia 

The accused person who was un-represented denied all the three-count charges levelled against him. 

At that juncture, the prosecution led by Commissioner Malang Jarju and ASP Yaya S. Colley made an application for the court not to grant the accused bail, stating that the accused has a pending matter before Magistrate Krubally at Banjul in which he was granted police bail but absconded. The accused is having another pending case at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court which is set for judgement.

The prosecution then applied for a bench warrant for his arrest, which was granted.

Case was adjourned till 25 March 2025.
