Mabinta Touray, market mistress of the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC), Tuesday continued his testimony before the Local Government Commission of Inquiry (LGCI), as her testimony over crucial council matters deepened.

Mabinta during his reappearance said each ticket book contains 1000 receipts and each receipt costs ten dalasi (D10). She was informed that the 10 cash books she provided did not contain information about 2020. She requested the cash books and they were handed over to her. She was not able to see the records for 2020 and requested time to do more search. This was granted by Chairperson Jainaba Bah.

She said she used to give her boss (Ebrima Kanteh) her collections and he would take it to the Council, adding that she did not deposit in the bank accounts of the Council. The Commission noted that this was contrary to her written statement in which she indicated that as a senior collector then, she used to wait to exhaust a ticket book before taking the money to the bank.

She qualified her statement to mean that sometimes she used to act on behalf of her boss by depositing in the banks and collecting the ticket books from the Council for issuance to revenue collectors.

She also testified that she used to receive the one percent allowance payment from her boss Ebrima Kanteh.
