This development was unveiled on Thursday 19th February, 2026 at a grand welcoming ceremony hosted by His Excellency, Ram Mohan, Honorary Counsel of India in The Gambia at an occasion held at the Tropic Garden Hotel in Bakau.
The occasion marked a significant milestone as Yogesh Alekari, rounding the world on a motorbike was whole heartedly welcomed by the Indian community in The Gambia led by His Excellency, Honorary Counsel, Ram Mohan.
Before proceeding with his journey, Mr. Alekari had stayed in The Gambia for about three days with a warm welcome received from the Indian community in The Gambia.
In an interview with The Point, Yogesh Alekari revealed that after departing Mumbai on May 1, 2025, he has so far covered 52 countries including The Gambia, covering more than 36000 kilometers.
Among the objectives of the Round the World Biker initiative, he said is to spread the ancient Indian message to the globe and to gain experience on every culture of the world and its geography.
“I want to know about the real world, not the world which we see in the media. I also want to connect with more people and at the end of the Journey, I'll change my perspective towards the world,” he said.
“From Mumbai, I traveled on road through: Nepal, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, UK, France, Spain, Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal and now, in The Gambia.”
However, he said that his first international expedition was on 4th August 2023, where he traveled from Mumbai to London visiting 27 countries, and covering about 29000 kilometers.
