Imam, activist jailed for 3 months in Senegal

Bah Diakhate an activist and Imam Ndao jailed  for three months.

Bah Diakhate and Imam Cheikh Tidiane Ndao were sentenced to a firm sentence of three months in prison for spreading false news. They will also have to pay a fine of 100,000 CFA francs. (D11,160). On the other hand, they were acquitted of offenses against a person exercising presidential prerogatives.

As a reminder, the activist Bah Diakhate, arrested two weeks ago by the Criminal Investigation Division (Dic), engaged in a video in attacks against Ousmane Sonko after a statement by the latter on the theme of homosexuality on the occasion of the visit of the opposition of French left, Jean-Luc Mélenchon. The preacher Cheikh Ahmed Tidiane Ndao, for his part, criticised the Prime Minister in another video for what he denounces as complacency vis-à-vis homosexuality.

The prosecutor had requested a prison sentence of 6 months against Bah Diakhate an activist and Imam Cheikh Tidiane Ndao, on Monday at the Court of Flagrant Offenses in Dakar.
