IEC registers 3 more political parties ahead of December polls

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has registered three more political parties ahead of the December 5 presidential election. 

The three newly registered parties are the National Builders Party (NBP), The Gambia Labour Party (GLP), and The National Democratic Party (NDP).

The Gambia has not got a total of 27 political parties aiming to contest in the December 2026 presidential race. The new party registrations were done following the fulfilment of the requirements for registration as political parties under section 106 of the Elections Act 2025.

In a press release issued on 17 September by the IEC and Signed by Joseph Colley, The NBP is led by Ansu Sanneh, with its secretariat located at Salagi Layout. Party Colours: Maroon (Top) and Teal (Bottom) Party Symbol: Elephant and Caterpillar, Party Motto: Think Big, Build Big.

The Gambia Labour Party is led by Bakusa Dukureh, its Party Secretariat located at Brufut Turntable, its Party Colours as Black, Party Symbol: Rice Field and Party Motto: Create Jobs, Create Work.

Meanwhile, The National Democratic Party is led by Kebba Bojang with its Party Secretariat located at Farato. Its Party Colours: Sky Blue - Top, Sea Green-Middle, and White-Bottom.

The Party Symbol: A circle shape with a hoe and axe, two birds facing each other. Finger pointing up and bold NDP letters Party with its Motto: A voice for change and putting the people first.
