"The theme of this press conference is handing Gambia back to her people," Sallah declared.
Sallah said the coalition brings together five political parties, eight political movements, two independent presidential aspirants, four civil society organisations and eight prominent personalities who have appended their signatures.
He said the group will adopt the successful 2016 coalition model where the flagbearer resigns from his or her party to contest as an independent candidate, noting that this model succeeded in changing government through the ballot box and brought Adama Barrow to power.
He said the Grand Coalition will avoid the pitfalls of the 2016 coalition, adding that members have been in consultation since March 2 to share opinions on what is best for the country and how to better shape its destiny.
"After the consultative exercise, we decided to meet and assess what had been said and further agreed to meet for ground preparation of the press conference," he said.
Sallah said the coalition will ensure term limits are entrenched in the constitution and that no one will lead the country without the backing of the vast majority of voters.
"Our constitution says that the sovereignty of the republic resides in the people of The Gambia and authority must not be exercised without deriving that power from their consent and that authority should only be exercised to promote their general welfare," he explained.
"The authority of the vast majority is the authority that will determine our manner of government and we are committed to that. That is why this coalition says that 18 months after it resumes what had been the responsibility of our leaders, resumes leading the country in the right way with consultation of the people, but not ruling it," he added.
He assured that within 18 months of assuming office, the coalition government will deliver the constitution of the Third Republic, with eradicating poverty as one of its key objectives.
