The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) is proudly represented by Customs Managers Mustapha Jeng and Ansumana B. Bojang at the 22nd National Contact Points (NCP) Meeting of the Regional Intelligence Liaison Office for East and Southern Africa (RILO-ESA), currently underway in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

The meeting is being held under the theme: “Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security and Prosperity.”

Delivering a presentation on behalf of the Director of RILO West Africa, Customs Manager Bojang highlighted the critical role of advanced technology in combating illicit trade and customs fraud.

He emphasised that illicit trade remains one of Africa’s biggest challenges, causing an estimated annual revenue loss of over USD 90 billion—a setback that weakens domestic revenue collection and undermines sustainable economic growth and development across the continent.

The conference brought together customs experts and development partners from Japan, South Korea, Europe, and across Africa, creating a platform for knowledge exchange and stronger regional cooperation in the global fight against illicit trade.
