Gender minister bags prestigious Women’s Impact Award

The minister for Gender, Children and Social Welfare, Hon. Fatou Kinteh, has been awarded the prestigious African Union Women's Impact Award at the Global Excellence Summit & AU Agenda 2063 Women's Impact Awards 2025 held on 23rd and 24th May in Lagos, Nigeria.

In an official statement, the organisers expressed deep respect and admiration for her remarkable work in championing the rights and advancement of women in The Gambia and across Africa.

The high-profile event was jointly organised by the Global Excellence Summit & Awards (GESA) in collaboration with the African Union Agenda 2063 Ambassadorial Assembly – Women and Gender Committee.

Hon. Kinteh was recognised as a distinguished leader in governance and women's empowerment. Her award highlights her outstanding contributions to leadership, gender inclusion, and human development both within The Gambia and across the African continent.

Her achievements also serve as an inspiration to the next generation of leaders, reinforcing cross-border solidarity for sustainable development and inclusive progress.

The summit brought together a landmark assembly of influential African and global leaders, diplomats, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and changemakers.

The award was received on her behalf by Gambia’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, His Excellency Mohamadou Musa (Papa) Njie.
