The Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC)  commenced its nationwide presidential election campaign on Sunday with a meeting at Ndungu Kebbeh, North Bank Region.

“The structures of the alliance at various wards, constituents, regional and national levels are therefore being requested to continue their ground preparation and mobilisation for our upcoming rallies,” the party spokesperson Omar Ceesay posted on his Facebook on Friday.

However, Ceesay said the party’s campaign itinerary is being reviewed by its central committee and would be made public as soon as it is finalised.

Meanwhile, Gambia Action Party (GAP) has announced an alliance with Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), after suspending their former leader Musa Ousainou Yali Batchilly for unilaterally endorsing President Barrow’s National People’s Party (NPP).

According to a statement by Senior Administrative Secretary Muhammed Yaffa on Saturday, the party will now be backing GDC.

The statement reads: “The Gambia Action Party hereby declares that the party forms a coalition with Gambia Democratic Congress for December 4th Presidential Elections and the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding will take place at Baobab tomorrow.”

“Meanwhile, the party is calling on all the surrogates, well-wishers and the entire nation to support and vote for Hon Mamma Kandeh of GDC in December 4th Presidential Elections with clear vision and commitment towards national development initiative undertakings. Our collective aims and objectives toward effective service delivery to The Gambian people in the most dignified manner coupled with sovereignty and respect to the shared values shall be ushered by the GDC, NAM and GAP coalition.”

“As scheduled, Gambia Action Party will join and participate in the nationwide campaign tour starting tomorrow and call on GAP surrogates around the nation to come together in unison and show support. The campaign itinerary will be shared on all GAP platforms.”
