Feb 28, 2023, 12:11 PM

The Gambia Telecommunications Cellular Company (GAMCEL) is seeking a private partner to provide better services for the people in The Gambia.

The company has therefore launched a competitive bidding process for private partners to provide an updated GSM Mobile Network for 3G, 4G and 5G services in order to accommodate a larger customer base and improve service delivery.

According to the bid put out by GAMCEEL, the project shall have the following components: to provide a core network for 4G and 5G and upgrade current 3G core; provide a robust state of the art billing system; provide an access network that constitute 250 4G/3G embedded physical sites, and provide an access network that constitute 25 5G physical sites.

Stating the rationale behind the call for a private partner, GAMCEL says: “The proposed network modernisation and enhancement project is designed to address Gamcel’s network problems such as (coverage, access and quality of services), network stability (transmission, backhaul and power) and business support system/billing (revenue assurance, seamless service delivery, value added services- VAS and 3rd party integration) to meet the justified stakeholder’s expectation.”

In light of the above, the company invited interested firms to bid for the implementation of the mobile network modernisation project. A complete set of the bidding documents will be supplied to interested bidders upon payment of a non-refundable fee of USD 10, 000 to GAMCEL.
