Gambians from different walks of life have expressed their desire and readiness to take part in the upcoming December presidential election.

Most of them have not only outlined their desire to take part but also have made some demands for politicians to look into how to solve some of the problems facing the development of the country.

“Yes I’m ready to take part in the upcoming elections in December. I want to be part of the people making decisions towards the development of the country,” said Mustapha Sidibeh, a businessman at Serekunda.

According to him, one of the main reasons for voting woud be to put in a leader who would solve some of the problems facing the country.

Adama Baldeh, a Gambian, said being one of the first 10 people who registered at her polling centre, showed how ready she is to take part in the upcoming election.

“There are so many areas which need development in the country but to my own perspective, the issue which needs an urgent intervention is the high cost of living in the country. The Gambia is among the few countries where survival is very expensive,” she said.

She finally advised other Gambians to vote wisely and not to be deceived by the sweet tongue of politicians.

Mbemba Dampha, a donkey rider, also expressed his readiness to vote in the upcoming election.

“One of my biggest reasons for voting is to exercise my civic right and also be part of people that are making decisions,” he declared.

Meanwhile, Gambia will be heading to polls on December 4th to elect a leader with 18 currently registered political parties.
