Feb 27, 2024, 11:49 AM

Gambia’s deputy chief of Mission in Mauritania has been recalled, according to official sources.

A source who informed The Point indicated that Mr. Jerreh Jammeh has been recalled due to misconduct which warranted an investigation into the matter.

Mr. Jammeh is a member of the opposition NCP party.

The previous recalling of another top 2 Gambian diplomats from the Gambian Embassy in Cuba as reported by The Point on Monday is a signal that the government should thoroughly vet diplomats before sending them for any international mission.

Ambassador Sheikh Tijan Hydara and his deputy Vincent Mendy were reported to have fought in the office over personal grievances in Cuba.

In July 2023, three Gambian diplomats in the U.S. were expelled for being involved in fraudulent visa acts.
