The meeting took place at the Minister’s office on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the longstanding bilateral cooperation between The Gambia and Morocco, particularly in the areas of women’s empowerment, child protection, and social welfare.
During the meeting, Mr Belhadj commended The Gambia for the progress it has made in promoting gender equality and advancing the rights and welfare of women and children.
He also reaffirmed Morocco’s continued willingness to strengthen and build on the existing cooperation and partnership between the ministries responsible for gender and children in the two countries.
The Moroccan diplomat highlighted the importance of continued collaboration and the exchange of experiences in promoting women’s empowerment, protecting children, and improving social welfare programmes for the benefit of both countries.
For her part, Minister Kinteh expressed gratitude to the Chargé d’Affaires for his support and contributions towards strengthening the cordial bilateral relationship between The Gambia and the Kingdom of Morocco.
She paid tribute to Mr Belhadj for the instrumental role he played in bringing the gender ministries of the two countries closer and fostering stronger cooperation for the mutual benefit of the Gambian and Moroccan peoples.
Minister Kinteh further reaffirmed her unwavering commitment and readiness to continue working closely with her Moroccan counterpart to deepen cooperation and promote initiatives that would contribute to the advancement of women, children, and vulnerable groups in both countries.
She said the relationship between the two ministries had created opportunities for greater collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and the promotion of policies aimed at improving the welfare and well-being of women and children.
The Gender Minister also wished Mr Belhadj success in his future endeavours and thanked him for his service and dedication to strengthening relations between The Gambia and Morocco.
The farewell meeting underscored the strong and growing partnership between the two countries and their shared commitment to promoting gender equality, protecting children, and advancing social development.
