Appearing before the Local Government Commission of Inquiry at the Djembe Hotel at Senegambia, the erstwhile CEO gave evidence over the contract awarded for the digital revenue collection device.
Getting into the details regarding how BAC reached a contract with 5C Energy Company to be provided with revenue collection devices, the ex-CEO relayed that he travelled to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates together with former chairperson Sheriffo Sonko and one other council member. He explained to the inquiry that the trip was fully sponsored by the company.
He testified that 5C Energy offered the contract to the council, and the council awarded them the contract to the company. “For them to convince us more about what they offered us, they paid for us to travel to Dubai to see what they do,” he said.
He stated the contract was later given to 5C Energy by the Council without any tender, thus admitting the flouting of due processes.
