The Gambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa and SADC countries, H.E. Fatoumatta Jahumpa Ceesay (FJC), has urged investors and business leaders to explore opportunities in The Gambia.

Speaking at the 2025 North-West International Market Access Conference held at Sun City Resort in South Africa from March 26–27, she emphasised the country’s potential for trade and investment and assured participants that The Gambia would take part in the next edition of the event.

The conference, themed: ‘Expanding Horizons: Unlocking Trade Opportunities & Connecting Fintech to the Province’, served as a platform for economic collaboration and global trade discussions. One of its key highlights was the One-on-One Business Matchmaking Sessions, where participants engaged in strategic discussions to foster cross-border partnerships.

FJC described the conference as a “starter-pack” for Bojanala Rural Development Finance, an initiative created by traditional leaders to oversee development and investment in the Bojanala district of South Africa’s North West Province. She encouraged business leaders to expand their focus beyond borders and consider The Gambia as an entry point to West African trade.

The event brought together trade commissioners, diplomats, financial institutions, venture capitalists, government representatives, and industry experts, all committed to fostering economic growth. It concluded with various pledges, memorandums of understanding, and investment commitments aimed at strengthening Bojanala’s economic landscape.

The conference featured business and trade presentations by high-level industry experts, one-on-one business matchmaking sessions to establish partnerships, a business exhibition showcasing opportunities across various sectors, and a red-carpet networking evening featuring keynote speakers and strategic discussions on global trade trends.
