DLEAG arrests suspect with 19 bags of skunk cannabis

Operatives of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency The Gambia, (DLEAG) have arrested one Dawda Kairaba Jeng, 44, a Gambian national with 19 bags of skunk cannabis, The Point has been reliably informed.

The suspect is currently detained by the narcotic officers as investigation continues.

Ousman Saidybah, the spokesperson of the agency, who was contacted for comments, confirmed the development, saying: “DLEAG operatives took into custody the suspect Dawda Kairaba Jeng, who is a resident of Salaji for being in possession of significant quantities of prohibited drugs.”

The suspect, he went on, was arrested at Salaji on the 11 of November 2023 with 19 bags of skunk cannabis, six hundred and thirty (630) sticks of vapours and 894 sachets of cannabis gums.

The cannabis gum, Saidybah explained, “is a synthetic form of cannabis gums that comes in different flavors while the vapour stick is another form of New Psychoactive Substance (NPS) that is highly potent.”

He added: “The drugs including skunk are among the new entrants in the local illicit drug market. Abusing these drugs poses serious risks to the health and well-being of those who use them. Therefore, we call on youth to value their future and avoid all forms of illicit drug abuse for their health and general well-being.”
