Sabally was speaking at a recent two-day sensitisation on the Electronic Logistic Management Information System (eLMIS) at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre. The forum was organised by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with key stakeholders.
He underscored the importance of having an electronic data system in this day and age.
"Digitalisation is the way forward, if our county is to make any meaningful development. Realising this fact, the Ministry of Health under the leadership of the Minister and the senior management team, took it upon themselves to revolutionise our operations at the Ministry by way of embracing digital platforms. Several platforms have already been rolled out."
This proposal, he added, was accepted by the world community to move from paper-based logistic management system to a more robust electronic logistics management system.
He spoke of the numerous benefits this initiative comes along with, noting that it will ensure quality and accurate data from all levels.
The system, he stressed, would also completely eliminate drugs shortages by ensuring timely delivery of the much-needed drugs in various health facilities across the country.
