The matter has thus been adjourned till 21 March for continuation of hearing as the State is expected to usher in a new witness.
This was the second time the trial was adjourned due to unavoidable circumstance. Last week the matter was adjourned due to lack of an interpreter for the fourth witness Mustapha Jabbi. Mr Jabbi later commenced his testimony on Monday 6 March.
The accused in the momentous trial are Lance Corporal Sanna Fadera, Sergeant Gibril Darboe, Corporal Ebrima Sannoh and Corporal Omar Njie of the Gambia Armed Forces and Sub-inspector Fabakary Jawara of the Gambia Police Force. They were indicted in mid-January this year and alleged by prosecutors to be planning to topple President Adama Barrow and his administration.
They are facing five charges including treason, concealment of treason and incitement to mutiny.
So far, four witnesses, including two soldiers and two civilians, have testified as state witnesses. They are Corporal Barra Touray, Captain Mamad Jobe, Yaya Manjang and Mustapha Jabbi.
