Alagie Hydara, a Kuntaur Area Council official, has been granted more time by the Local Government Inquiry to provide his cashbooks and other relevant documents.

Upon appearance and his confirmation of his written statement dated 5 March 2024, the statement, appointment and promotion letters were admitted in evidence.

Hydara said his supervisor is the finance director. He testified that he left his two cash books in the Council.

The Commission's counsels quizzed him over missing receipt books. He claimed that he later found them and he took them to the office. The Commissioners ordered him to provide them for verification.

The KAC official made withdrawals amounting to D1,011,891 between January 2022 and January 2023, while his total deposits was D663,015 leaving a balance of D348,876.

He said he has evidence to back up all the withdrawals. He was granted the chance to provide the evidence.

He testified that the staffs of the KAC were not trained on their work. He made this comment in response to question over his knowledge of the Financial Manual for Local Government.

Mr Hydara also withdrew D31,600 and D33,400 from the council account. He testified that it was an instruction of the Finance Director. He said this was a time he was travelling to Farafenni. He added that the cheques were issued in his name.
