The move comes as the narcotics agency intensifies its crackdown on illicit drugs and clandestine criminal networks operating within the country. All three foreign nationals, comprising one Indian and two Bissau-Guineans were reportedly employees of Envy Night Club in Fajara.
“All three accused persons have been granted bail as investigations into the matter continue. “As an institution that operates within the confines of the law, we cannot detain the accused beyond the 72-hour limit, as doing so would infringe upon their rights,” our source postulated.
The source further added: “I can confirm that Paulo was also invited for questioning by a panel instituted by the DLEAG, as part of efforts to get to the bottom of the matter.”
According to our source, Paulo’s questioning by operatives of the DLEAG is linked to the Envy Night Club in Fajara. The source explained: “We received reports indicating that Paulo owns the night club. Therefore, we deemed it important to invite him for questioning, especially given that the Indian national arrested with firearms and cocaine is the club’s manager, while the Bissau-Guinean individual serves as the ticket seller.
“We are now digging deeper to establish the true ownership of the night club,” the source emphasised.
In addition to Paulo’s questioning, our source revealed: “Our operatives discovered that a Range Rover vehicle—insured in Paulo’s name was found at the apartment where the three foreign nationals were residing in Fajara. The key to the vehicle was found inside the house of the Indian national. In fact, the apartment itself is rented under the name of Envy Night Club.”
Concluding, our source stated that the three foreign nationals arrested by the narcotics agency in connection with firearms and cocaine were granted bail under strict conditions. These include the provision of a landed property within Cape Point and two Gambian sureties.
Responding to rumour which suggested the three suspects have secured their bail through Paulo, our source added that the suspects were granted bail but not by Paulo.
