The support marks another significant milestone in the country’s quest to strengthen its health infrastructure, thus responding to emerging health issues as in line with global health initiatives.

The donated items include aneroid disinfectant, disposal glove male, sterile powder, latex surgical glove, disposal operating gown, washing clothes, operating garments among a host of others.

The ceremony also witnessed the signing of a hospital cooperation agreement between the Governments of the People’s Republic of China and The Gambia.

Shortly after signing the agreement, Lin Jin, ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to The Gambia, extolled the already existing cordial cooperation between the two countries, further acknowledging that China and The Gambia are good friends and reliable partners.

Chinese ambassador stated that the event marks an important milestone in broadening their cooperation especially in the field of health.

Ambassador Jin recalled that last year the governments of China and The Gambia signed a cooperation agreement, which followed the arrival of a medical team for a five-year stint in the country.

That move, he added, is traditional and something that signifies the level of their ongoing bilateral cooperation especially in the field of health.

With that strong foundation and having similar aspirations, Minister Samateh said the partnership becomes even easier.

“The Gambia is also aspiring very much to reach the level of development of China. We’ve seen a useful recipe of hard work, commitment, dedication and love for country. And we believe when we follow that in the country, we will get cities that are like cities in China,” he observed.
