Cannabis farm owner in Foni dragged to court

Bubacarr Bojang, who was recently arrested by operatives of the country’s Drug Law Enforcement Agency-The Gambia (DLEAG) for reportedly cultivating a cannabis farm in Foni, West Coast Region (WCR), has been dragged to court.

The accused on Wednesday appeared before Magistrate Isatou Njie of the Brikama Magistrate Court for being in possession of prohibited/unlawful drug for the purpose of drug trafficking, contrary to section 43(4) of the drug control Act 2005. 

According to the particulars of offence, Babucarr Bojang, on or about 6 October 2024 between Kanilai and Kunjehjeh village and in diverse places in the West Coast Region, cultivated some plants of cannabis sativa weighing 502kg 052g a prohibited drug thereby committed an offence. 

However, the accused (Babucarr Bojang) pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him by narcotics officers.

Meanwhile, the prosecuting officer made an application for an adjournment. His application was granted by the presiding Magistrate, Isatou  Njie. 

The case was adjourned till 28 October 2024.
