The donation reflects the bank’s dedication to financial inclusion and its values of fairness, compassion, and shared prosperity. Officials highlighted that BSIC‑Gambia introduced an Islamic Banking Window in 2023, becoming the first conventional bank in The Gambia licensed to operate both conventional and Islamic banking systems.
Speaking on behalf of Managing Director Malick Joof, Director of the Islamic Banking Window recalled that BSIC commenced operations in 2008 as a conventional commercial bank, committed to providing quality services while contributing to national growth. He noted that the Islamic Banking Window now offers ethical, transparent, and Shariah‑compliant products tailored to personal and business needs.
Jainaba Jallow of BSIC emphasised that mosques are not only places of worship but also centres of learning, guidance, and community development. “As an institution guided by Islamic finance principles, we believe in supporting initiatives that strengthen communities and promote the values of faith, unity, and social responsibility,” she said.
Receiving the donation, Alhaji Momodou Senghore, First Vice President of the Pipeline Mosque Foundation, expressed gratitude to the bank. He noted that the Mosque, built through the efforts of Gambian citizens and institutions, continues to rely on support for infrastructure and staff. He revealed that ongoing projects include a modernised toilet block and a hall for Islamic events, which will serve as a source of revenue generation.
Foundation Treasurer Seedy Njie also thanked BSIC‑Gambia for its intervention, describing the donation as timely and vital for the upkeep of the Mosque.
The gesture was hailed as a demonstration of BSIC‑Gambia’s corporate social responsibility, reinforcing its role not only as a financial institution but also as a partner in community development.
