At the event, Annette Camara, Communication officer, Miss Gambia 2024, gave an overview of the upcoming competition, its evolvement from the past 21 years, and what the public is to expect.
“We are empowering beauty, we are celebrating culture, but we are looking for substance, competence, intelligence and eloquence. We are not just looking for facial beauty.” she said.
Executive Director NCAC, Hasoum Cessay, while applauding Biddy’s Promotion for standing firm against all the odds and for being innovative in showcasing the Gambia culture to world.
NCAC ED reminded ‘would be’ beauty queens of their roles, which he said, is to enhance Gambian cultural heritage, represent the country and culture in a positive image so as to give a thorough understanding of the Gambia to the outside world.
In essence, he said they will serve as an ambassador for the country.
CEO of Biddy’s Promotion, Ida Bidwell recalled some of the hurdles in their journey to bring back Miss Gambia for the past 8 years, noting that she and her team had been working tirelessly to revive Miss Gambia.
“Because, Miss Gambia platform will be an avenue to groom young and talented women to the represent the nation at international and global levels in beauty pageantry.”
