“But receiving money from people will never be compromised and such action can lead to dismissal,” he warned at a meeting at Julangel in Upper River Region as part of his Meet The People’s Tour.

The Gambian leader urged drivers to ensure that they have proper documents before driving on the highways, saying:
“If you don’t have proper documents and you are riding your motorbikes, then you have broken the laws of the country and the country’s security personnel will do the needful. The security personnel are here to protect all of us.”
Underscoring the importance his government attaches to infrastructural development, Barrow added: “I want to assure the people of Kantora and Tumana districts respectively that we will soon start constructing new roads within the area,” he promised.
He assured inhabitants of the area of his government’s continued commitment to national development. “I can assure you all that whatever you people didn't have in the previous government of Jawara and Jammeh, you will have it in my government.”
Commenting on the rural electricity expansion that is currently ongoing in rural Gambia, Barrow said: “I am just from Bolli Banna and I have seen how the electricity expansion is going on in that area. As I stated earlier on, I will continue to do my best to ensure that the entire country has access to electricity.”
Sulayman Touray urged the government to decentralise the passport issuing centre, saying: “We have immigration officers in Basse and I am quite sure they will be able to process it without people going up to the Banjul. I also want the president to help the Kantora Police Station with a vehicle as a means to prevent crimes among other things in the area.”
