With less than one month before the forthcoming parliamentarian election, the National Assembly aspirant for Kombo South Constituency, Momodou Bojang, said fostering unity, bringing rapid development to his electorates, supporting legislations that are of national interest as well as creating Ward Development Committee (WDC) will be among his top priorities if elected into office in the April 9th National Assembly Elections.

Bojang, who is also the current councillor for Sanyang Ward also expressed optimism about defeating the incumbent National Assembly Member for the constituency, Kebba K. Barrow, who has  been the majority leader of the National Assembly for the past five years.

Mr. Bojang, who was speaking to The Point in an exclusive yesterday, said Kombo South deserves better representation. “What the electorates at our constituency need is someone who will be there for them at the Assembly. We need a parliamentarian who understands the issues affecting the area and will work towards addressing them,” he said, while claiming that the constituency was not well represented during the past five years.

Politics of deception, he said, are now in the past. “The work that I have done in Kombo South is recognised far and beyond and including the area. What the people need is continuation of those rapid socio-economic developments within the door steps of inhabitants of the area.”

“For the past years, I have helped build markets and supported women community gardens as well involved in road rehabilitation, helping women involved in microfinances among others. In fact, some beneficiaries of those developmental projects are not even within my ward. My objectives have always been and will be addressing the challenges my people encounter.”

“The people of Kombo South will be well represented and they will know all the issues happening at the Assembly. I will be equally having discussions with them with a view to know some of the issues affecting them in order to table them before the Assembly for government to address it. Besides that, I have just created a website. This website will be used to communicate with our electorates especially those in the Diaspora and even those in the country,” he posited.

The NPP candidate further added that if elected, he would work closely with the government and other relevant stakeholders with the objectives of boosting tourism within the Kombo South coastal area. “We want to promote tourism. We will be working closely with the Ministry of Tourism in trying to promote tourism in the constituency in our quest to create employment for young people of the area.”

“I will also create Kombo South Development Committee. The committee will look on issues affecting my people and we will be writing project proposals to partners and the government so that those issues will be immediately addressed.”

On the issues of the environment, he said, he would be working with the government in ensuring that environmental degradation is completely addressed.

Mr. Bojang yesterday also had meetings at Gunjur and Sanyang villages respectively.
