Another former Senegalese minister arrested

Former Minister of Industrial Development and Small and Medium-Sized Industries, Moustapha Diop, was remanded in custody yesterday Thursday, May 22, 2025, according to exclusive information from Seneweb.

The mayor of Louga appeared before the investigating commission of the High Court of Justice as part of the accountability process for the management of Covid-19 funds. He is being prosecuted for embezzlement of 930 million CFA francs of public funds, related to a batch of masks for which he was responsible during the pandemic.

Moustapha Diop joins Ndèye Aminata Loum Ndiaye, former director of general administration and equipment (DAGE) of his ministry, in prison, charged with the same facts by the judge of the 2nd chamber of the Dakar court.

Already two ministers are implicated in the COVID fund, Ismaila Madior Fall former minister of justice was placed under electronic monitoring and house arrest, and Sophie Gladima, former minister of mines and geology, remanded in prison.

Former justice minister Ismaila Madior Fall is implicated for receiving bribe, while four ex-ministers are implicated in the accusation of misusing COVID funds.

Today Mansour Faye former minister of transport and brother-in-law of ex-president Macky Sall will know his fate over accusation of embezzlement of government funds and also of the COViD funds.
