74 lawyers called to the Bar

Today, the Judiciary of The Gambia held the Fourteenth Call to the Bar Ceremony welcoming seventy-four new lawyers, primarily women. The proceedings opened with a performance by the Police Band, setting an uplifting atmosphere as esteemed guests arrived, including representatives from the Attorney General's office and the Justices of the Superior Courts.

Hon. Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow, delivered the welcoming remarks, emphasizing the principles and responsibilities of the Bar. His leadership and commitment to justice were echoed in Solicitor General Hussein Thomas's address on behalf of the Attorney General. The Director General of the Gambia Law School presented the candidates, marking their induction into the legal profession.

Guest speaker Hon. Justice Gibril B.O. Semega-Janneh highlighted the importance of integrity within the legal field, reinforcing the judiciary's role in upholding justice. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates and awards, including recognition for Mafoyem Tchinda Loveline as the top student.

This event celebrated the strength of The Gambia's judiciary and the continued emergence of women leaders in law, showcasing a promising future for the profession.
