According to Gambia’s deputy ambassador to Mauritania, Saikou Ba Jarju, the boat left Mauritania on Saturday heading to Spain with about 150 passengers before it capsized due to harsh weather.
In the last boat incident on, 45 have people have been confirmed dead.
At least 45 people reported dead in the first boat that left The Gambia carrying 300 migrants on 21 July 2024, while another 45 people survived.
Meanwhile, 140 passengers were still missing from the boat that left Mauritania on Saturday carrying 150 as 10 people have already been confirmed dead.
Sheikh Omar Faye, the Gambian ambassador to Mauritania visited the 45 Gambian survivors of first boat on Saturday, marking a relief and support for them.
