Zuwa FC face Luniburg in typical Newtown Derby

Zuwa FC and Lunibury will on Saturday rub shoulders in the semi-final of the knockout match in a typical Newtown derby at the Bakau Mini-Stadium.

Fans are eagerly waiting to witness the match believed to be one of the biggest encounters of the summer championship as the two rivals brace up for the typical Newtown derby.

After months of intensive campaign in this year's summer championship in Bakau, the highly exciting nawettan is ever inching closer to its final stages with the league final already at its climax between Mamakoto and the outstanding Ron Mango, who have written the biggest history after making it to their third consecutive double finals in Bakau Nawettan.

But Saturday's match will see two neighbours, Luniburg football club and newly promoted nawettan team Zuwa FC, entertaining each other in what is expected to produce some scintillating moment of knockout football.

Huge doubts have been cast over Zuwa FC team's ability to make an impact in the nawettan, following their promotion to the summer championship from the qualifiers for the first time in the club's history.

But they have proven critics wrong after strings of impressive performances in both the league and the knockout competitions.

The team, named after Yankuba Jammeh, got off to a slow start to the knockout campaign with a 1-1 draw against Ron Mango before proceeding to hold Linguere to a pulsating gaolleas draw.

Zuwa FC, formerly called Brazil FC, collected their third consecutive draw with another goalless draw with Senior Lions before going on to beat Blackpool 1-nil to advance to the quarter-final stage of the league.

The rejuvenated Zuwa FC returned to their best form with a remarkable and dramatic 5-4 penalty shootout win over hotel side Seaview, which was followed by a deserved 1-nil win against Scantours to progress to the knockout quarterfinal.

Despite registering their biggest disappointment in the semi-final stage of the league cup championship, after they were found wanting for fielding in a player (Yankuba Jammeh) who already have two yellow cards to his name, the Bakau newtown outfit are on course of reaching their first-ever final should they beat neighbours and friends Luniburg this weekend.
