Youths granted D200, 000 bail bond

Sarja Ceesay and Hamidou Mustapha Faal were on 3rd February 2010 granted a court bail in the sum of D200, 000 each with a Gambian surety.

The duo are standing trial before Principal Magistrate Kayode of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on a charge of assault, causing actual bodily harm. Both denied the charge.

Testifying before the court, the complainant, Dawda Ceesay, told the court that he recognised the accused persons and could also recall on 13th January 2010.

According to him, the 2nd accused, Hamidou Mustapha Faal told him that he has a mobile phone for sale at a cost of D250. He testified further that he took the mobile phone from the accused and went to sell it with the promise that he would get a commission.

He informed the court that when he asked for his commission, the accused refused and later shut the door and put the candle off and started to attack him in the house.

He revealed that later the 1st accused, Sajar Ceesay also appeared, broke a bottle and both of them started attacking him, and as a result he was injured on his eye, arm and ribs.

He said he reported the matter to the Serrekunda Police Station and was later taken to RVTH where he was admitted for 6 days.

The case was adjourned to 16th February 2010.
