A document issued to The Point recently signed by the Director of Planning, indicated that the minister to be accompanied by relevant satellite institutions and other stakeholders are said to be visiting selected youth farms across the country to verify and ascertain the young farmers club’s effective engagement of the country’s youth folk in the President’s 2016 agenda.
The visit is to cover the North Bank, Central River, Upper River, Lower River and part of the West Coast Region ending on Monday with the objective to enhance and intensify the current campaign in mobilizing young people to take ownership of the President’s 2016 Agenda.
The document indicates that the agenda calls on the people of The Gambia to go back to the land to “grow what you eat and eat what you grow,” with its overall goal that by 2016 “not only a single grain of rice shall be imported” into the country.
The tour-team will use the opportunity to inspect the ongoing refurbishment and rehabilitation projects taking place in the regional structures.
