The Ministry of Youth and Sports under the leadership of Hon. Sheriff ML Gomez, is set for the inauguration of a four-man taskforce committee tasked with the responsibility of looking into the affairs of the Gambia Football Association (GFA), Pointsport has gathered.

The taskforce to be inaugurated on Tuesday at the Independence Stadium in Bakau will comprise Musa Ceesay, a UK-based Gambian journalist, Ebou Faye, secretary general of Banjul Sports Committee, and Kaba Ceesay, an authorised chair of the committee.

Pointsport can also confirm that Abdul Aziz Titao Mendy, development officer of the National Sports Council (NSC), is directed to serve as the secretary to the taskforce committee, expected to commence work soon.

In a separate development, the NSC will present some prizes to The Gambia and Nigeria wrestling teams that successfully took part in the just ended international wrestling competition hosted in Banjul.

It would be recalled that The Gambia invited two countries - Nigeria and Senegal - to take part in the 22nd July Wrestling Competition but only Nigeria honoured the invitation and eventually became the winner.

During the competition held at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium at the weekend, Nigeria won the group competition at the expense of the host The Gambia.

The Nigerians secured 4 victories over the Gambians who could only manage 1 combat.

The Nigerian wrestling team will be rewarded for their outstanding performance when they take to the podium to receive some prizes in a presentation ceremony billed for today at the National Sports Council’s office in Bakau.
