The Young Scorpions of the Gambia that formed the National U-19 team won 1-0 to China in the final of the Umbria tournament on Sunday.
Momodou Badjie’s 33 minutes goal has given the Gambia side the tournament’s trophy against China at the weekend.
The Gambia made it to the semi-finals of the invitational Umbria tournament after beating the host Region 3-1.
Gambia’s goals came from Sulayman Marreh and Dawda Sisoho.
Marreh netted twice before Sisoho could complete the rout to a final 3-1 scoreline for the visitors.
Saturday’ semi-finals also saw The Gambia beat host Italy 3-1 on post-match penalties after a 1-all draw game.
It would be recalled that the Young Scorpions drew with Italy at the final game of the group phase last year, which ended their ambitions of sailing through.
