Young Santos FC on Saturday beat Buckingham FC 1-0, in a well-contested re-scheduled finals played at the Gunjur Nyamina football field, to lift the 2014-2015 Gunjur intermediate league title.

The palace boys made a flying start to the game and came very close to opening the scores through striker Yankuba Manneh in the 5th minute of the game, but his shoot went over the cross bar.

The Santos-based outfit were unable to established themselves well in the game, but opened the scores through Ousman Keita in 35th minute of the game, after capitalizing on blunders made by Buckingham FC’s goalkeeper, Demba Colley, to fire the opener, which eventually proved to be the winner and also earn them the trophy.

The palace boys responded for an equalizer, but could not break through the Young Santos formidable defence line, and thus the game ended 1-0 in favour of Young Santos FC.

As champions, Young Santos FC went home with a giant and cash prize of D4, 000, whilst Buckingham FC received D3, 000 as the runners up.

Bilbao FC received D500 as the most disciplined team and Mene Faal received D200 as the leading goal scorer of the tournament.

Mene Faal also received D200 as the best player of the tournament.
