YMCA to organise National Forum on Youth in Micro Finance

The National Council of YMCAs will organize a one day National Micro finance Consultative forum on Tuesday 22nd March 2011 at the Paradise Suites Hotel, Senegambia.

The Theme of the One Day National Forum is ‘Identifying the Gaps …… What works with Youth in Micro Finance?. The one day conclave will attract strategic actors, partners, policy makers, stakeholders, youth organizations and the press.

According to the Programs and Development Officer of The Gambia YMCAs Joseph Taiwo Peacock, the objective of the one day event is to create dialogue, share experiences and best practice and establish a platform for continuous dissemination of information on young people’s participation in the ongoing micro fiancé schemes available in the country.

This activity is amongst a series of ongoing consultation and interaction being used by the Gambia YMCAs to propose and influence strategic policy decisions with regards to youth employment and economic justice.

It is envisaged that the outcome of this one day consultative will bring out tangible issues for possible intervention in the near future. The report which will form part of the learning material will be shared with strategic actors in the areas of youth and micro finance.
