Xavier
Nursery School in Farato over the weekend held its annual graduation ceremony
under the theme: “Building the capacity of future leaders.”
Delivering
his speech at the graduation ceremony, the proprietor of Xavier Nursery School,
Simon Suta Mendy, hailed the parents and teachers for moulding the future of
the children.
“We
need to work very hard as responsible parents, teachers and the community at
large to build and nurture the capacity of our future,” he said.
Mr
Mendy said parents work very hard in their individual God given talents and
skill to create the breeding ground for them, adding that the school would
endeavour to build the capacity of her pupils to match the smart children of
other schools in the country.
He
disclosed that the foundation stone for a Lower Basic School would soon be laid
to answer the clarion call of parents for a nine-year uninterrupted schooling
of the children in the same institution.
He
said the school needs so many facilities and resources in place in order to
better serve the purpose it was established for.
Both
human and material resource was needed for advancement of the school, he
stated.
He
thanked both international and local philanthropists who have in diverse ways
helped the school to get the school to its current standing.
He
said a home-based philanthropist is currently sponsoring four nursery children.
For
his part, Lamin Jarjou, the guest speaker, said The Gambia Government was
committed to upholding the right of every person to basic education regardless
of gender, age, religion or any physical challenge.
He
said basic education would be opened to all, adding that learning at this level
would be geared towards the holistic development of individual for positive
realisation of every person’s full potential and aspirations.
The
ceremony ended with the award of certificates to graduating kids.
The
president of the Rotary Club of Fajara was the special guest of honour for the
graduation.
