According to information gathered, this development came about following a meeting held on Saturday at the Independence Stadium in which all female teams were invited to elect a new executive committee that will run the affairs of the Female football in the coming years.
The meeting attended by Red Scorpions, Interior, Eastern Lions, Future bi all first Division teams and Kintehs, Jamcity and Jeshwang United in the Second Division unanimously electedDes Samba Mbenga as new chairman, Malafie Barry Vice - Chairman, Sanna Jarju, Secretary and assisted by Fatou B Sanyang.
Dawda Bassen was elected as new coordinator and will be assisted by Memba Camara plus other 10 team representatives from the Female league.
When contacted, the outgoing Chairman Sainey Jammeh, who served in the position for 4 years said, "I felt the need to step down from my position and inform the FA who accepted the move. This was why a meeting was convent last Saturday with team representative to elect a new executive after convincing them to accept my decision".
Des Samba Mbenga was the team manager for Red Scorpions, one of the most outstanding first division teams in the GFA female league. He also confirmed his election as chairman and pointed out that
the female league is always given the opportunity to elect an executive every year but an executive can also stay as longer than stipulated in the constitution of The Gambia Football Association.
Seedy MB Kinteh, president of The Gambia Football Association confirmed the development.
The former committee was headed by Sainey Jammeh as chairman, Malafie Barry coordinator with Sanna Ceesay and Dawda Bassen as committee members with other team representatives.
